Renowned Bharatnatyam exponent and yoga expert Navtej Singh Johar, whom the MenEngage Global Symposium campaign is honoured to be associated with, spoke passionately about men and masculinity at a two-day event – ‘Men Engage Towards Cultural Equality’ held in Chandigarh on October 6-7. His whole life a shining example of androgyny, Johar’s emotional talk on issues of gender equality, violence against women and the MenEngage campaign moved the audience deeply.

A first-of-its kind academic seminar on ‘The Representation and
Reconstruction of Masculinities in Western India’ was organized on September
12-13 as part of the advocacy process of the 2nd MenEngage Global
Symposium. It was held in partnership with the Department of Politics &
Public Administration, Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The interdisciplinary seminar explored various aspects of masculinities and sexualities in the region within national and global perspectives, and suggested directions for further research and interventions to promote the dismantling of patriarchy. ![]() More than 200 academicians and students from about 10 universities and 10 colleges are participating in the North Region Academic Seminar being organised at Gandhi Adhayan Peeth Sabhaghar, Varanasi. The symposium being held on September 13-14 is on the issue of "Men and Boys for Gender Justice".
Prof Dr Sanjay Srivastava from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Satish K. Singh from Forum to Engage Men (FEM) and Centre for Health and Social Justice (CHSJ) delivered the keynote address and a background note on the symposium.
